Home, Sweet Home

Thank you for all the prayers and well-wishes for 'Maggie,' because coupled with good veterinary medicine, she has come home and is doing pretty good.  She kept her water down yesterday morning, so she got 2 food trials, and kept everything down all day, and she came home last night about 8 PM!  She's happy to be home, and it's such a relief to have her back after 4 days at the hospital.
She's on a low-fat highly digestible canned prescription food which she eats "ravenously."  She's on tramadol for pain, metronidazole for her lower gi, and famotidine for her tummy.  She didn't rest too much last night - she had diarrhea several times, with a bit of blood in her stools still.  This has her a bit on edge, as she knows the drill about going potty in the house, but Dad is trying to console her that it's OK this time.
Maggie and Joey will spend the day with good friends while Dad is at work so she can be watched closely.  We have to follow up with the vet to determine the next course we're going to take for her Cushing's, and planning again for removing the troublesome tumor on her anus.
Thanks again for all your love and support - there's nothing in the world like having your sick little ones back home and feeling better by your side.

Are we releaved to hear this good news, Maggie, Joey and Carson. Maggie you are a real trooper. We were hoping u would be home soon as spring is here and theres so much new stuff to smell and poke around in outside we didn't want u to miss out on new adventures that spring brings. Here in Quebec Canada our house is on the flight path of the Canadian Geese coming home from the south, we love to go outside to see them pass in the 100's and hear them honking. We honk back to welcome them (mom thinks we are barking). And some grass is shooting up so we get to have a snack and the birds are flying around our yard so we get to chase them. Hope you get to go out in your yard and enjoy spring fun. Thinking of u, and get super well soon. Your pals LollyPop, Sass, Shilo and Miss Maggie.

A jippie from the north of Germany! That is fantastic news. Maggie is such a brave girl and for sure so so happy that she's back home. We will keep our paws crossed for the upcoming treatments and that she will pretty soon run around in a sunny spring-garden. Kisses and hugs to Maggie, Joey and Carson from Tobi & Ani

Great news, keep getting strong Maggie!
We keep potty pads on a bathroom floor for Oskar to use if he can't get outside, and during the night. He doesn't want to be embarrassed by going in the wrong place, so these work great. Will Maggie use them?

Continuing the prayers and well wishes.

Oh my goodness. I had not been checking in this week after reading your note saying that you'd be taking a bit of a break. Now I see you weathered quite a rough four or five days! I am so very happy and relieved to read your latest news, and know that Maggie is home with you and Joey and doing well. Sounds like she got the best of care (from her medical team, and from her dad!) I hope to hear even more good news from you guys as she continues to recover!

Sending lots of love and good wishes for health and happiness for all three of you!

Becky and Michael-dog
