Dachshunds in Pop Culture: Richard Tauber

This is a 1931 photo of popular opera singer Richard Tauber and his dachshunds arriving in New York aboard the ocean liner Bremen for his American debut. Richard Tauber (16 May 1891 – 8 January 1948) was an Austrian tenor acclaimed as one of the greatest singers of the 20th century. Some critics commented that "his heart felt every word he sang". Find out more about Richard Tauber at wikipedia, or sit back with a cup of coffee or hot tea this morning and listen to him sing at youtube. We're betting that he sang to his doxies.
Update: March 8th, 2009: According to TIME magazine, 11/9/31, Mr. Tauber's dachshunds were named 'Fritzi' and 'Mitzi.'
