Two Dozen Dachshunds Rescued From Oregon Home

The Idaho Humane Society rescued 24 small breed dogs, most miniature Dachshunds, from a home in La Grande, Oregon on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010. A concerned citizen from Boise alerted the IHS to the overwhelmed breeder with several dozen dogs in poor physical health living in less than ideal conditions when she visited the breeder to purchase a puppy. Those interested in adopting one of these Dachshunds can visit the Idaho Humane Society in Boise. Because the breeder gave the dogs up willingly, no charges will be filed.

YAY for rescue!!!! I'm an Oregonian and it fries me when my fellow statemen/women do stupid irresponsible things. I hope they all find wonderful and loving homes. : )

Stories like this are so upsetting! I am so glad they were rescued. La Grande is a bit of a ways away from me {I'm in Seattle}, but after looking at those pictures I want to drive down and adopt a few!!

Yes, we agree. Stories like this one are upsetting BUT posting them do help make people aware that Puppy Mills exist and make us aware also that we CAN do something about PMills.

I have one of the pups; a long hair hot dog; great colors. He is SO special and so loving. I can't ask for anything more! I have two other pound girls that I rescued from the pound and all three get along great. My little guy is Jesse, but because my Son's name is Jesse we renamed him JJ; short for Jesse Jr. He is the perfect dog; very loving and special. We take him every where with my girl dogs. His name is JJ but his nickname is Purse Dog, as we can carry him in a duffly bag, wrapped in a warm blanket and all he does is look out the side of the bag. He loves going to the mall and on walks. He is very special and I'm SO happy that I found him and he found me. I love being a new Mommy.

JJ is working out wonderful. He is so sweet and lying here on my lap right now (tiny lap dog). JJ and I are in Wisconsin visiting my Son and his girlfriend. He has a great personality but can be a "little butt puppy" when someone gets too close to me; mostly men. I wonder what happpened to him at the puppy farm? He also has a cut ear. :(

Anyway, my girl dogs and JJ get along great.

Happy Holidays to all and to all of JJ's relatives.
