Meet little wirehair 'Scooter,' his dalmation canine brother/sister, and his human Lori Finlayson, an 8th-grade teacher in Jenks, Oklahoma, near Tulsa. Congrats to his Ms. Finlayson for being recently awarded the American Kennel Club's Community Achievement Award! Each year, her students have to do a research paper on how to find a suitable family dog. The students must use sources such as magazines, books, and the internet, as well as primary sources, which means that they get to a dog show to conduct interviews! What a great way to learn about dogs and proper canine care. Read all about Ms. Finlayson's innovative teaching at Tulsa World. Monday, August 3, 2009
