Dachumercial: Understanding Dog Breeds: Dachshund
It's been a while since there has been a new Dachumercial making the rounds, but Dogster's Julia Szabo has put together this nice "how to understand the dog breed Dachshund" refresher. This of course begs the question: will we ever really understand the Dachshund?

Nice video - love HL Mencken quote. But I disagree strongly about doxies not smiling - my beautiful Maxie (who passed away this Sunday) smiled all the time. It was not a huge open-mouth grin like our other dog but his mouth was definitely turned up. We even had a neighbor who called him "Smiley". He was a very happy boy and I am heartbroken at his loss.
I also disagree about the smiling, my Ringo smiles all the time! In fact, I am going to email you with pictures of him doing just that! That woman obviously has never been owned by a dachshund, otherwise she would know better...
I thought that video was superficial and not particularly useful. Not enough footage of the breed and no info about back problems etc. The "smiling" bit was also annoying.

We agree about this smiling! Joey always has a little "dolphin curl", and Maggie will even show her teeth when she smiles!!
