A Drifter, His Horse, and His Dachshund

Meet Jeremiah Brinkley, a self-described drifter, with his trusty companions 'Anna Belle' and 'Dexter' the 4-year-old Dachshund, who might just hail near you at some point in time, but are seen here in rural Nevada on Thanksgiving Day.  The trio are heading to Peculiar, Missouri to bed down for the winter after traveling from New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

"I love to ride," said Brinkley; "I go to bed when I want, get up when I want and find work when I need money." He also said that he has no family, only the friends he has made over the years.
"Most of all," he said, "It keeps me from that silly TV." Then he added, "TV ruined me."

We hope to Dog he doesn't know about the Internet.  Read all about this unlikely trio at the Nevada Daily Mail.

Just like in the old westerns, except for the dachshund, uh usually they have the cow round up dogs, lol. Note Dexter's warm winter coat , he looks like he is well cared for.

My name is Dub Riley. I met Jeremiah today as I spotted him riding near my home in Ozark, MO. I looped back around to have a chat because I noticed his bedroll on the back of his saddle and could tell he was traveling.

He had ridden this most recent leg of his journey from New Mexico to visit his father, Paul, who happens to live near me. He is now headed to Arkansas.

"This one has about 20,000 miles on her," he told me about his faithful horse, Anna. Anna is the daughter of his last horse who had taken him on his journey for the first 13 years. Now he has ridden Anna for seven.

I have some pictures of him and know sort of where his father lives. It may be smart for us to join forces with information gatherers so we can keep tabs on our genuine American drifter.

I can be reached at socialmediaart (at) gmail (dot) com.

My family met Jeremiah last evening as he was looking for the Trailer Park in Bethel Acres, OK that was devastated by the May 2013tornado. A very gracious, genuine and likeable man. He told me that he plans on staying in our area for the next month and invited me to stop by and ride Anna. My 18 month old grand daughter fell in love with his horse...and I do believe my gelding paint did as well. We look forward to his stay with our small community.

I met your Dad when he was at
Havasu Palms on Lake Havasu in
California. He was staying there
before traveling on to California to see the Pacific Ocean. What a delight it was to
meet him. A wonderful humble man.
I pray his travels are safe and would love to hear if he made it
to the Ocean. He was with us watching football around New Years Day, January 1, 2014.

Heade the Atlantic Ocean a couple weeks ago and last heard he is headed up through North Carolina and back to Missouri. Very cold here this week hope he finds warm shelter on his journey.

Has anyone seen or heard from Jeremiah since November? I'm worried about him and AnnaMarie traveling in the cold wet weather. Would love to know if he made it home to Missouri for
Christmas.
He spent last New Year's at our
home in Lake Havasu, AR and we
enjoyed him so much.
