Dachshund Reproductions: Dachshund Boot Scraper

Collector's Corner:  We've seen many of these vintage Dachshund Boot or Foot Scrapers reproduced over the years, but this is the first time we've seen the 22-inch granddaddy of them all remade in modern times.  The vintage ones will run you anywhere from $100 - $300, but now you can get a brand new one for $145 at Rejuvenation.  Don't forget to account for shipping on these bad boys - they weigh 26 pounds!  From Rejuvenation:

We went to great lengths to find a service animal with this much skill and personality. After hunting through a pack of other hounds, we finally came across a 100-year-old dachshund boot scrape and the original factory mold on ebay. It was love at first sight for us, and we're sure you'll feel the same about our solid cast-iron reproduction. Weighing in at a hefty 26 pounds, Fido won't budge before he's helped guard your home from mud, snow, and other shoe-borne messes. The pick of the litter, indeed.

OMD....We have one of those old vintage ones. Had it for probably close to 40 years now. We don't use ours for a boot scraper though. We use it as a door stop so the back door doesn't slam shut every time we open the front door (wind tunnel, I guess).

My grandmother had one of these. She said it was the only thing she could keep around after her doxie died. Her doxie was born the same day I was and live to 18yrs young and I have loved doxies ever since.

I have just discovered your site as I am looking for a dachshund present for my mum who is an ardent fan of the breed! A boot scrapper like this one at her back door would be absolutely perfect. Guess I need to dig deep!

We are so happy that Bette has taken up the "shopping duties" that Maggie had done so well for so many years!

I have a similar (antique) boot scraper - it definitely weighs a lot! Stub your toe on it and you're going to be limping for days!

My aunt had and maybe still has one of these boot scrapers. My uncle worked in cast iron and made for her, IIRC. They never had a flesh and blood doxie, though

I have one of the vintage ones. Paid $125 about 5-6 years ago. They are so cool!

I too have an original of this exact design. A prize piece recovered during a landscape clean-up/clean out. Wish Rejuvenation had shared a little more info regarding the mold.

Mine adorns my fireplace mantel. Best dog ever!

Where can you get an original? How do you know if you are buying authentic or remake?

I love and have two miniature doxies
