The historic Frankenmuth Brewery was first built in 1862, and operated as one of Michigan's largest breweries until it was destroyed by a tornado in 1996. A brew pub was opened in 2003, but closed 3 years later. Avid collectors of Frankenmuth Dachshund memorabilia, and admirers of craft-brewed beer may be excited to learn that the brewery reopened late this summer in a 4-story, 28,000 square foot building. They offer tours of the brewery, banquet facilities, and a fun food menu. The shopping link on the site is still forthcoming, although we have heard that the actual brewery at least is offering Christmas ornaments with the Frankenmuth Dachshund logo. Road trip anyone?
