Dachshund Relaxation: Piebed

A bed fit for a Piebald

We can't thank our MidWest Dachshund Rescue friend Alison enough for surprising your Long and Short of it All host 'Joey' with this new bed to help in his recovery after surgery.  He LOVES it.  Joey was so excited when Dad removed it from the packaging, and it complements his piebaldism perfectly.  He rolled around in it immediately, tail wagging at full speed.  "It's a big giant ME!," he must have thought.  Alison made this herself!
Joey continues to recover well after his long ordeal.  He's still getting adjusted on his medications for Addison's Disease.  The daily prednisone he takes is causing him to drink and pee a lot, but we're hoping to reduce his dose some to alleviate this.  He had electrolytes drawn last Saturday to check and make sure they are OK, as his monthly DOCP injections control them.  They are looking good, but he is probably going to need a dose reduction of his DOCP as well.  Otherwise, he is a happy, hungry, and active little guy.  We're so thankful.

UPDATE 12 NOON:  Thanks to ISewNBake for leaving a comment: Alison has some on ebay right now and she regularly donates them to MWDR for raffles. Here is the link to the 2 she's got for sale right now:  eBay.  Hurry up, they are Buy It Now!

Sweet photo included with Joey's bed.

I've gotten to know Alison through Midwest Dachshund Rescue, and I'm not surprised that she made this special bed for Joey. She has a big heart when it comes to dachshund work, and her dog beds are understandably very popular. She chose the perfect fabric for Joey! May he enjoy many snoozes and snuggles in it.

PS Mom sez she has finished with her stuff for you. Hope to have it in the mail by this weekend or early next week. She used Chili as a model as he seems close to Joey's size.

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Joey. That bed is almost as good looking as you are.

Ooh I love the piebed! Geneva is probably the only dachshund on the planet who does not go under the covers, though, so it wouldn't be right for her. But Joey looks fabulous in it, and it's obvious he loved it right away. It's so good to see him living his life again! This has to be the best get well gift ever!

Love to see Joey looking happy, healthy and relaxed. I hope you get Maggie to snuggle with you. I have one of those beds and spend hours in it - especially in the winter.
Love your blog! Macy and Robin

Your bed is beautiful! I bought one, but I bet I don't wait until Christmas to bring it out- it's already getting a bit too chilly for the princess! Wonderful to see Joey looking so comfy. What does Maggie think?

It is lovely to see Joey so comfortable and cozy in his bed that I know was made "with love in every stitch"! What a perfect bed for Joey to rest in as he continues to recover and heal from his awful trials. Joey, Maggie and Carson - you are all still in my prayers and will continue to be. With love, Jayne and Annie

The attached blanket is genius! Jackson is always getting tangled in his blanket which provides entertainment for us but would be much more convenient for him if his blanket couldn't get tangled up. Hopefully Joey will heal quickly and get lots of good rest in his new bed.

So glad that Joey is doing so well! Absolutely love that bed and he looks so comfy cozy in it. Our old snuggle beds are literally in tatters and I haven't found anything that compares. I just ordered two of these as they look like the "real" thing! Frankie and Maggie love their snuggle beds - I can't wait for them to arrive!
