Hounded For A Blessing

Rev. Donald DeGroat blesses red longhair 'Cassie,' at the annual Blessing of the Animals, held at the Midvale United Methodist Church in Wanaque, New Jersey. The Blessing of the Animals usually takes place on or around Oct. 4, the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals.  Source.

I attended a service here in Ottawa last year with my Dachies, LollyPop, Sass, Shilo and there were about 6 large breed dogs there too. Well, u can guess the fun I had trying to stop mine from taking a bite out of their rears the whole time. They don't like large dogs. LOL Thank God they didn't try to bite the Minister who's dog was there also. But it is really a nice outside service among the trees and flowers and the minister dressed in white cloth. I enjoyed the prayer said for all birds/animals etc. Now that I have 4 again (Happy had passed on) and now I have Maggie, I don't think I will try again. "Save the large breed dogs" from the dachshunds should be added in the prayers. LOL But I love my 4 rescued brats from Quebec just the same, and pray St. Francis will bless them from afar.
