Time Together by Michael Franks: Don't Miss This Song and Video

Who?  Michael Franks is an American smooth jazz singer and songwriter. He has recorded with a variety of well-known artists, such as Patti Austin, Brenda Russell, Art Garfunkel, and David Sanborn. His songs have been recorded by The Manhattan Transfer, Patti Labelle, Carmen McRae, Diana Krall, Shirley Bassey and The Carpenters.  And oh yeah, he's a Dachshund Lover.
We were excited to get a note from Michael's wife, Claudia, announcing Michael's new song Time Together, a piece he wrote about his beloved Dachshund 'Flora,' and the title track off his new album.  Claudia writes:

dear joey and maggie...

we just found your blog and LOVE it!
i thought you might like to see the video that the record company put together for my husband's new cd, "time together".
the title song is for our dachshund flora who passed a year ago.  in every interview he does-people ask about flora and dachshunds.
we rescued her in 1998.  more info on flora is available on my husband's website...michaelfranks.com.  if you click on "flora's page" it has another slide show that we made...and a short little bit on our love story!  she was from a puppy mill in kansas.  we have since rescued 2 more with HUA...certified doxieholics!
love you guys!  you are just gorgeous!

We're honored to share such a fine song and video with incredible lyrics.  Brought us to tears.  The video notes:  The title track from Michael's "Time Together" CD -- a touching tribute to his beloved dog, Flora. He dedicates it to all of you who have lost a much loved companion. Michael is donating the royalties from this song to Hearts United for Animals in Flora's memory.  Produced by Gil Goldstein. Featuring Gil Goldstein and Romero Lubambo.  Video production by Peter Nevill.

There are links to purchase the song and album on itunes, eMusic, and Amazon on youtube.

Now that brought tears to my eyes - thanks for sharing. This Sunday would have been my Maxie's 15th birthday. He passed away on May 15th. I grieve for him every day. We are hoping to get a rescue doxie in the next couple of months but it is slow.

I bought this song recently and the first time I saw the video, well let's just say the tears flowed for a long time. Wonderful, thanks for sharing it here, Carson!

Tears for me, too. Lots of tears....

What a beautiful musical tribute to a beloved dachshund! I cried for Flora. I cried knowing that my two dachshunds are seniors.

Time for me to wipe away my tears and to celebrate the time I have left with my two oldies-but-goodies, Sawyer and Abby.

So beautiful. Flora is smiling from the Rainbow Bridge I'm sure. Not only for her musical tribute but for opening up your hearts again to rescue 2 more needing a loving home. God bless you and your little dachies.

Hi Joey and Maggie, thanks for posting this video. The song is very touching. Thanks to Michael and Claudia for sharing it. Through the song and pictures, I felt the bond of Flora to Mike and Claudia and vice versa. So glad they rescued Flora and now two other Doxies. The song also released for me many great memories of our now gone Doxies Keppler, Padua and Digger. Certainly a bit misty eyed....

There were tears here too. After watching, I went to cuddle my dachsie.... but he squirmed away because there was food in the room! Haha

I loved the video and the music...so sweet! I'm 69 and Baron is 3, I'm hoping we'll last about the same amount of time. I can't imagine life without him!

Just wanted to mention that I heard Michael Franks interviewed on NPR this morning. Unfortunately, they didn't ask him about "Time Together" and Flora, but I was thrilled to recognize the title when they mentioned his new CD.

Thanks for sharing a tender-hearted song, sentimental in all the best ways. It feels right right now.
