8-year-old wire-haired 'Daisy,' who hails from Onsted, Michigan, gets a check for Lyme disease by Dr. Dennis White of the Companion Animal Clinic in Tecumseh. Although rare, reported cases of canine Lyme disease are on the rise, and White suggests dog owners who take their pet hunting or camping arrange to have their dog vaccinated, as Lyme disease is transmitted by ticks that live in wooded areas. Meet black and tan longhair 'Little Bit,' and his human, Vietnam War Veteran Jim Quick, of Danville, Illinois. “One word that describes his personality would be ‘love,’” Mr. Quick said about his long-haired dachshund. “He just loves everybody and everything.” The 3-year-old is the light of Quick’s life, and brings smiles to those who meet him. “He’s my little buddy.
