Thankful Dachshunds, Thankful Humans

With Thanksgiving just hours away, The New York Post checked in with New Yorkers for whom the holiday has extra-special meaning. This is the story of pretty red long-hair 'Eloise,' and we know she'll get a special bite of turkey tomorrow. Excerpt from The New York Post: Meanwhile, mini-Manhattanite Eloise, a 12-year-old dachshund, is lucky that a disc rupture hasn't left her hind legs permanently paralyzed. Spinal issues are quite common with dachshunds, and many need wheelchairs to get around. But Eloise will soon be able to walk without wheels thanks to surgery performed by Yonkers vet Dr. Jason Berg. To strengthen her muscles, the spinally challenged senior gets hydrotherapy at Manhattan's Animal Medical Center. For now, Eloise gets around in a pet stroller, but soon her paws will be pounding pavement again.
