Reviews are popping up all over on the new book Mrs. Astor Regrets, described by The Washington Times as: a saga about sex, avarice, jealousy, betrayal, infidelity, alcoholism, social position, gossip, power, vanity and ultimately money - lots of it, and Brooke Russell Kuser Marshall Astor, the doyenne or queen of New York City, is at the center of it all.
Sigh. We regret that the book isn't just about her love of dachshunds. Still might make a good read though, as most reviews are quite positive, even on Amazon: This is a fabulous book. Not in the dictionary sense of "hard to believe" or exceptionally good. It is fabulous in the "must be read with a bonbon and preferably a cocktail nearby." This is the perfect diversion from the hassles of the holiday season. Think of it as Mrs Astor's last bequest to the common folk.
Has anyone read it, and what did you think?
