Retro Fun: Dachshunds in 1960s TV Shows
We love the fashion, the music, and chain-smoking political incorrectness of the 1960s, especially what can be found in the TV shows that entered American homes at the time. Our friend Sandy Firebird and her boy 'Sammy' must be awful quick with the camera to be able to send in some super shots of Dachshunds who appeared in a couple of these shows. Sandy writes:
Dear Joey and Rowdy,
Just thought I'd send you a couple of lo-tech shots from my TV. Both shows are from the '60's-my favorite decade.
The first is "Route 66", an oftentimes dark look at the human condition as experienced by 2 young men. They sometimes wander off that famous road and we observe some excellent views of b/w Americana. In this episode one of the lads is accused of hurting the little guy .Fortunately, it all ends well.
In the second shot, we see Rob and Laura Petrie. For some reason they are at the vets where they meet a dingbat with a chubby Dachshund. "The Dick Van Dyke Show" is lighthearted fare and very enjoyable.
All for now,
Sandy and Sammy
