Kisses
Maggie and Joey,
On April 11, 2009 you helped me celebrate the first birthday of my handsome Dachshund, Samson-- little did I know, it would also be his last.
Samson passed away this weekend in a tragic accident at his grandmother's house. Our entire family feels lost without our little Dachshund running beneath our feet. It is strange how someone you love so much can be stealing a piece of bacon from the table during breakfast and have slipped out of this world by lunch.
Samson was a strong, handsome, loving and amazing dog. He was CGC certified and was working to become a therapy dog at children hospitals. His little life was cut too short.
I ask that all doxie moms hold your babies just a bit tighter tonight, and think about my Samson. He was fierce, he was stout, he was my cuddle bug and my digging pal...and he was my entire world. I miss you Samson. Momma misses you.

Kate, we're so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy.
Goodness, I am so very sorry to hear about your sweet pup. Nothing makes my heart heavier.
ReplyDeleteThis is the second loss of a dachshund this week. We were on vacation last week and a older couple had a older doxie, the next morning the dog passed away...it broke mt heart to hear that.
I am so sorry for you loss....pets are like family and in many cases, they are your family. Thinking about you!
This is such sad news. I am so sorry! I know the condolences we express can't bring him back, but hopefully you will be able to cherish the wonderful memories you had with Samson. I'm sure he was lucky to have you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a loss, it is especially sad when one passes with such potential to help others. My condolences. He was a beautiful boy.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your unexpected loss. Thinking about you and your family. :(
ReplyDeleteI hope I'm not being rude by asking what happened?
I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine what you are going through. My thoughts and prayers for you.
ReplyDeleteWe were at his grandma's house this weekend, moving some furniture. In all the fuss, little Samson slipped outside, because rolling in the grass was always one of his favorite activities.
ReplyDeleteGod knows why, but a truck was coming down the road at the exact same time and even though Sam was an increddibly behaved dog, he wanted to chase.
There was no suffering. I think he broke his neck on impact. I held my baby in my arms for an hour, in disbelief. He was a precious gift that I only was given a year to enjoy.
Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. Although nothing will heal the my heartache, knowing that other dachshund lovers are thinking of my sweet Samson helps.

How sad! I know my little Gracie is my world and I can't imagine what I would do without her! May God bless you during your time of grief and know that all us doxie mom's are saying prayers for you! Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI shouldn't have read this at work. The tears are flowing. I am so sorry for the loss of your little man. It's obvious he was very much loved.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to pass along this quote I gave a friend when her dachshund passed away earlier this year:
"Grief is like the ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim."
(Vicki Harrison)
OMG...I am so so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteAloha kaumaha au nou...I know he was special....
We are sorry for your loss! Rest in peace Samson!!!
ReplyDeleteSo, so sorry for the loss of your darling boy. Much sympathy to you.
ReplyDeleteI am very sorry for your loss. I have two doxies myself and couldn't imagine loosing them. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you. I lost my first doxie in a similar manner--and it remains one of the worst days of my life. I can only hope that time will return a smile to your heart. Take comfort in the love & good care you gave to Samson, and when the time is right, enjoy telling your next furbaby how special he was. Amazingly, with time, the next doxie will come in your life---each is unique and special. Hold your Samson dear in your heart.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you.
I'm so sorry to hear about Samson, I know how hard it is to lose a pet that way. Keeping you in my prayers, my God comfort you and give you peace.

I am so sorry to hear this about your precious boy. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry to hear about the loss of Sampson at such a young age. May our Good Lord give you peace in your heart despite the pain.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, Kate. I remember Samson's handsome face from the first post about him. Dogs are so special, I don't think there are words to describe how special they really are or how much it must hurt to lose one. Thinking of you and your sweet Samson.
ReplyDeleteOh, Kate. I am so sorry to hear about your loss.I wish I had the perfect words to give you comfort during this sad time. I hope your grief will be just a little bit assuaged when you think about how you gave handsome Samson a wonderful, loving, happy life. As a fellow dachshund mama, please know that I am sharing in your sadness and that my deep sympathy is with you and your family.
ReplyDeleteWith love,
Becky
I'm so, so sorry for your loss. My three doxies send extra snuggles for you during this hard time.
