'The Long and Short of it All' Turns Five Years Old

A Note From Rowdy and Joey

With little fanfare, yesterday we celebrated the 5th Anniversary of 'The Long and Short of it All.'  Dad forgot the party hats, but won this Dachshund sign in a raffle basket at last week's MWDR fundraiser, so he put it around Joey's head and said "Now it's a party!  Smile!"  Do we look amused?  Shouldn't Rowdy be wearing a lampshade?  We weren't impressed in the slightest until Dad broke out the fresh strawberry shortcake topped with whipped cream and blueberries.  Now THAT's a party!
Every year Dad says that our anniversary is going to be the end of the blog.  It happened the first year, the second year, the third year, and so on, and when he kept going, he kept saying that five was the magic number - the fifth anniversary of the blog is going to be the very last post we will ever do.  Well, too bad he missed yesterday's deadline announcement because we're still here today and we're still blogging.  So stay tuned.
And so we wrap up Long and Short of it All post number 2,855.  Danke schön to all our loyal readers and commentors for sticking with us over the years - it's been a fun ride.  Thank you from the heart of our bottoms.

Yours in Dachshund Love,
Joey and Rowdy....

  3. Thanks, guys, for all the time and effort you put into maintaining the web's premier dachshundist destination. Each new post is a treat. The only thing that could make it better would be to have sweet Maggie around for this and future celebrations.

  6. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication over the years. I've been a loyal viewer every day now for several years. I've enjoyed it so much! I've laughed and cried at times, been enlightened and angry, rejoiced and been sad with you, and it has brought comfort to me during the loss of my beloved dachshund. I've got to read lots of stories that I would have never heard of before, and heard from lots of neat people, too.

So thank YOU again for all you've done, and Happy Anniversary! Wishing you much success, happiness, and long life for the little guys - with or without the blog – whatever you decide. But, we love it!

  9. That's why there were fireworks yesterday, it was your bloggiversary! You scared us for a minute there with your crazy talk about the 5-year deadline. First they take away our Tang, there are no more drive-in movies, then All My Children is cancelled, not our doxie blog too!!!

  10. Congrats to your anniversary!!

I first became a fan of this site when Carson noted the erroneous use of a photo of our Honey. I am always grateful to him for bringing that to my attention.

So, YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY (one for each year) for your blog, the #1 Doxie Blog for all of the Internets (sic).

A very happy anniversary and hearty congratulations on one of the best blogs out there! As a fellow blogger, I know what it takes to put out a quality product, and I often tell myself that I can't keep it up much longer with my full time "real" job.
You have really done a terrific service to those of us who love dachshunds, and I would be very disappointed if you finally decided to stop posting.
Checking out your blog is one of the most enjoyable moments of my daily routine!
Geneva, who turned 16 this year, also sends congratulations and kisses.

Your blog is the very best part of my day - I can never get enough of Dachshunds - and pics, stories, poems, etc. about these beautiful creatures of God. Happy 5th Anniversary to you, Carson, Joey and Rowdy, and to Miss Maggie in Heaven. If you can continue this blog (and all the work and time it takes) you would make so many people so very happy. Kindest regards, Jayne and Annie
