Is Sharon Roberts of Whispering Oaks Kennel Running Another Puppy Mill?

Say it ain't so. We know our friends at Dachshund Rescue of North America and all the great dog rescue groups across the country who aided in the efforts of possibly the largest puppy mill bust in history are distraught to see this news. Last year, nearly ONE THOUSAND dogs, mostly Dachshunds, were rescued from the Whispering Oaks Kennel in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Owner Sharon Roberts was not charged in the bust on the condition that she would never breed animals again. Now she has moved to Vincent, Ohio, has an Ohio state kennel license, 68 dogs, and $250,000 in cash at her home.

"I can tell you this. I do not have a breeding facility. People dropped off dogs and gave them to me, but I've never bred them," said Roberts.

If you have purchased a dog from Sharon Roberts in Ohio, or know anyone who has purchased a dog from Sharon Roberts in Ohio, contact authorities. And so the saga continues. Read more at WBNS.

  1. I hope the authorities take those dogs before winter--having lived in Ohio, I can tell you that winters are a lot colder in Ohio than West Virginia. There's no way a dachshund should be outside in that weather and I'm sure she isn't going to take 68 dogs in the house with her.

  2. Oy. Each and every one of those wieners deserves a warm lap to sleep in, and from the looks of it, Sharon's lap isn't big enough for them all.

  5. It is true and worse yet it is only across the Ohio river from where she was busted last year. A mere 10 miles away. I worked the rescue last year and trust me we are all just sick about this. So far there is nothing we can do. Ohio laws are even less strict than WV. Pray folks, that she screws up and we can nail her. The dogs are in a one car garage that has both heat and AC, now whether she uses it or not, who knows. Plus it has been rumored that a month ago, she only had 30 some dogs, now it is up to 68 or so. She is advirtising on hoobly.com that she has 4 yorkies that are good breeders for sale. Pray, folks pray hard.

  7. You have got to be kidding me. This makes me so mad! I fostered 2 of the doxies from that puppymill. I have never seen 2 dogs so abused & sad in all of my life. With a lot of love & patience these dogs are healthy, happy and in forever homes. This has got to stop!

  9. UPDATE CHARGES FILED
Go www.wtap.com and you can find the story just in about charges being filed in WV NOW and tomorrow a recommendation of charges in Ohio
WV 51 charges all misdameaners though. In Ohio, will be recommending 1 felony and 2 misdameaners. Not enough in either case but at least charges and the IRS is now involved big time. Can you say put that in your kibble can MS Roberts and smoke it.

  10. I know first hand on the condition of the dachshunds from the bust in VA. This woman needs to be put behind bars & never let her have another animal. She is cruel & neglected these babies.

  11. FYI
She has another kennel, over 150 dogs, and the facility is smaller and dirtier than the other. Authorities refuse to take action. What can be done???
