A Broken Record: Pitbulls Attack and Kill Dachshund Puppy; Injure Teen

This time in Allendale Township, Michigan. We try to support the "deed not the breed" philosophy, but these recurring stories honestly stretch our patience. Read more about the unfortunate incident at woodtv.

  1. Put those pit bulls down! Completely unprovoked attack. Supposed that was a mother and toddler walking....

  2. Shut Up. You Don't Know Anything. Keep Your Comments To Yourself. If My Dashchund Was To Do That To Someone It Wouldn't End Up In The News Because He's A Small Dog. But Because It's A PITBULL You Say Put Them All DOWN. You Are A Very Very Ignorant Person.

  3. How many more times do have to read about a child, or a pet, being mauled to death by these vicious killers? They should be outlawed and banned in the US as they are in the EU. I used to feel bad for them - not anymore. They're ugly and stupid dogs.

  4. This is terrible - but I would expect understanding from dachshund owners on this site considering that TL&SOIA ran this story not too long ago:http://dachshundlove.blogspot.com/2008/07/new-study-finds-dachshund-most.html

You hear more about pit bulls attacking than about other dogs because of the media. Watch - when any other breed attacks, the headline will read "Dog attacks..." This just happened with the case of the dog that dragged the newborn outside. But if a PBT is involved, you can bet the headline reads, "Pit bull..."

There is an excellent article in the New Yorker archives I encourage everyone to read before they judge: http://www.newyorker.com/archive/2006/02/06/060206fa_fact

  5. We had our dachshund at a relative's house a couple of weeks ago and out of nowhere a pit bull ran up and was all over her. As it turns out the pb didn't hurt her but she was so strong and fast that even though she seemed to be playing it took a large man to drag her off. My baby was yelping for help and it scared me so bad I don't know if I'll get over it. It all happened in a second. Anyway that dog wasn't vicious but it really brought my attention to how strong the dogs are.

  6. To Say A Breed Is Ugly And Stupid When You Probably Only Know Or Have Heard About Aggressive Pitbulls Is One Of The Saddest Things i Have Ever Heard. Now, i Am Not Saying That There Aren't Mean Pits Out There But You Need To Put A Foot In Your Mouth. It's Just The Same As Being A Racist. Exactly The Same. i Love Every Sort Of Dog. And My Weenie Dog Plays With A Pitbull That Lives Next To Us. She Is In Love With My Dog. She Would Never EVER Hurt My Dog. Ever. DO NOT BE RACIST.

  7. P.s. i Am So Sorry To Be Acting Like This. But i CANNOT Stand People Who Have To Target. Just To Try To Prove A Point. Oh & i'm Not Being Anonymous About My Opinions. Thank You.

  8. Anonymous, pitbulls are not vicious killers. They should not be banned and all put down. my friend had five pitbulls. All of them were sweet. It's people who train them to be vicious. Like dogfighting. They're not naturally like that. I do think it's sad that a dachshund puppy was killed but I'm not against pitbulls for it. Dobermans, Chows, Pitbulls, Rottwielers, even Wolves. Too many people judge them. They have horrible reputations. I think it's sad.
