Maggie at about 12-weeks-old
Two years ago today, we lost our beloved 'Maggie,' your original Long and Short of it All hostess. They say that time heals all wounds, and to some extent, that is true. We no longer feel so much pain and sorrow when we run across old photos of this special little girl, but we still miss her very much.
Now when we think of her, we feel her warmth and goodness and the joy that she brought to us and so many people every day of her wonderful life. We'll never forget you little girl.
Please take some time today to remember all the little ones in your lives who have gone on to a better place before you. Appreciate the little ones who are with you now with some extra treats and belly rubs - they are on this earth for such a short time - it's really not fair.

I have been thinking an awful lot about Joey and Maggie lately. Piper is in congestive heart failure, so it is just a matter of time. It is so important to give them all the love you can while you have them. Hugs and good memories,

Glad to hear you are doing better. Yes we do only have our furbabies for a short time and we need to make the best of it. As the girls get older I recognize only to well the little bit of time we may have left. I pray that those years are full of life and good health. So glad you are still blogging. We love it!!! Tink, Windy Gretel and Liesel.
ReplyDeleteWow 2 years have gone by already. Truly the end or an era. She was the prettiest little longhair girl. Their memory and their blog live on. But don't reflect too long, or Rowdy and Bette will get into something.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing Maggie with us all.
ReplyDeleteCarson,
ReplyDeleteBless you on your beloved Maggie's 2-year angel day. I believe it gets better, to the degree that it does, largely because we realize a little more each day just how blessed we were to share life with amazing spirits like Maggie & Joey, or my sweet little redhead Cinnamon.
Thank you as well for sharing your beautiful family with us through The Long and Short of it All, and for advocating so consistently for these amazing and special beings, and the organizations that support and care for them.
Bless you, sweet Maggie, forever.

Carson, this post made me cry. Maggie was a beauty and handsome Joey, I do miss seeing them on your blog. I know there is a spot in your heart that only they can fill. And you are so right..it is not fair we can't have them for a longer amount of time. Not fair at all.
ReplyDeleteThe memories never go away. They're kept forever in our hearts.
ReplyDeleteMaggie was so beautiful! Thank you for sharing her and Joey on your blog.
ReplyDeleteMy EyeCandy & I have 15 little weiners...one crossed over this past year. I read somewhere that a CHILD made this comment. "Dogs don't NEED as long to LIVE, because they already LEARNED how to LOVE." See you 'round Maggie. Run FAR in the green fields of HOME...We are coming one day.***
ReplyDeleteit's so hard to lose one of our four legged kids. it's heart wrenching. Thanks for sharing your special ones with us.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tribute to your sweet girl ♥
