The 2010 Dachshund National Specialty Best of Breed
It almost feels like we were there! The Dachshund Club of Santa Ana Valley (DCSAV) was the host club for the Dachshund Club of America (DCA) 2010 National Speciality September 28th - October 2nd. Congrats to the champ and all the beautiful dogs who competed. We don't want to spoil the surprise, you'll just have to watch the video to see who won Best of Breed. Via youtuber purebredstudios.
The winner, a long haired dachshund was gorgeous, but I was surprised to see her fur trim the clasic schnauzer trim. Short on the back and with the skirt on the two sides. First time I've ever seen a dachie with a schnauzer trim.
Actually, the best of breed is an 11 year old male - he isn't clipped in a schnauzer cut - the longhair's fur generally grows in such a way that the end up with a skirt. You actually are only supposed to trim them under the neck and keep their feet neat. In fact if you clippper a long hair doxie, often their fur will grow back with a weird texture.
