Dachshunds in Pop Culture: Tony Curtis

"Notice my dog, Bronx, under my chair. He is always with me..."  via Tony Curtis, The Art of Hollywood

Some like it hot, and some like Tony Curtis.  Who?  We think you know.  Tony Curtis (born Bernard Schwartz; June 3, 1925) is an American film actor. He has played a variety of roles, from light comedy, such as the musician on the run from gangsters in Some Like It Hot, to serious dramatic roles, such as an escaped convict in The Defiant Ones, which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor. Since 1949, he has appeared in more than 100 films and has made frequent television appearances.
Oh yeah, he's a Dachshund and pet lover too.  He has several cats and small dogs, and one of his greatest passions is horse rescue.  His black and tan smooth boy is named 'Bronx,' a reminder of his humble roots, as he grew up in the New York City borough during the Great Depression.
While Mr. Curtis nearly succombed to pneumonia in 2006, today he paints, and enjoys life with his wife and pets at his Sun City Anthem home, a retirement community near Las Vegas, Nevada.  His children include daughter Jamie Lee Curtis.  Keep up with Mr. Curtis at his official website.
