An Update From The Fire At Dachshund Rescue North West

Thanks so much to Margo Mossburg, Director and Founder, Dachshund Rescue NW and Dachshund Club of Spokane, for taking the time to leave a few comments, thanking readers for their support, and providing an update from the tragic fire which occurred at the rescue on Monday, October, 12th:

She notes in Sad Times For Dachshund Rescue North West:

Thanks everyone. We are taking one day at a time and working to rebuild here so we can get open once again and start rescuing. Home will mostly need to be rebuilt so until we get a home the rescue is closed for a while.

And in More On Dachshunds Rescued From Fire At Dachshund Rescue NW:

Thanks for posting this.

We have all of our personal dogs back home except one now so only one is foster that is ours, the Assistant Director of the rescue, likes our very senile and very old Auggie-doggy. She wants to keep babysitting him for me while we are working on the house.

One more adoptable dogs in foster is Bob Dog. But the rest are home with my husband and I finally which we totally enjoy.

We still have two adoptable ones that came out of the fire at http://www.drnw.petfinder.com They are looking for their forever homes after being tossed outside in dog crates from a burning building they are fine. No lasting effects for either of them or all of our own dogs except for the seven we lost of course. I will miss those as long as I live.

I managed to throw them all down on the floor before they were breathing too much smoke like me. The fire started early morning so many were sleeping in dog crates or I threw them into crates to get them outside.

Some were offended being tossed outside that day but all are well and happily being happy now. Glad I could save 16 plus our two ancient kitties too. The house we can replace but totally worth losing some lungs for a while to save some lives.

Sorry we do not ship our rescues, but if you know of someone in the Pacific Northwest looking to help a homeless Dachshund then please send them my way.

Thanks,
Margo Mossburg
