cute photo! I have a question for experienced dachshund owners - how do you keep them from jumping off the bed? We have stairs he uses for climbing, but not exiting. He also sometimes sneaks up on the table and jumps off. Both are about 3-4 feet high and I am worried about him.
Hi Melissa, This has worked for us, hopefully some other folks will comment. The stairs or ramp aren't by the bed all the time so that the dogs can only use them when it's bedtime. In the morning, they get lifted down off the bed....the stairs are more of a backup in case the dogs get down in the middle of the night for something. Make sure they are by the corner of the bed closest to the bedroom door, as it seems, at least with Joey and Maggie, that they will use the shortest path to get to their destination. Try giving treats when they use the stairs. If they start to jump off the bed without using the stairs, stop them with a command like 'stay!' and reinforce the word 'stairs.' As for the table, Maggie and Joey are good about staying off the table, but try and keep the chairs always pushed under the table so they can't get up.
Very cute!

Anyway, hope this helps.
