Dachshunds and Art in the News

Red piebald 'Sam,' and his human Christopher Marlowe had a portrait painted yesterday at the first Pooch Party at Spencer's Restaurant in Palm Springs, California, by artist Chris Davis. The Pooch Party was a fundraiser for the Palm Springs Art Museum Artists Council. Read more about it at The Desert Sun.

On the other side of the country, Marian Van Landingham sits in her river view studio with one of her pet dachshunds, red longhair 'Spike.' Ms. Van Landingham founded the now famous Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia, which is celebrating its 35 year anniversary. Find out more at the Alexandria Gazette Packet.
