This is a great German postcard from 1920. You don't see such nice historical documentation of dapples very often; this looks like a smooth chocolate dapple. Actually, it almost looks like a chocolate piebald with ticking. Looks like there's a white tipped tail. We're not pattern experts here, can anyone help?
Meanwhile, one of your hosts, Joey, is still bewildered that as a piebald, he's not accepted as a breed standard by the AKC. This is a photo of almost 7-year-old Joey from this past Sunday. Joey says: "My piebald people have suffered and have been oppressed far too long. One day that AKC will accept and love us for the dachshunds that we are.
