This is a 1931 photo of popular opera singer Richard Tauber and his dachshunds arriving in New York aboard the ocean liner Bremen for his American debut. Richard Tauber (16 May 1891 – 8 January 1948) was an Austrian tenor acclaimed as one of the greatest singers of the 20th century. Some critics commented that "his heart felt every word he sang". Update: March 8th, 2009: According to TIME magazine, 11/9/31, Mr. Tauber's dachshunds were named 'Fritzi' and 'Mitzi.'
